3. Bullying
The Communication Problem
Teenagers and young adults do not realize the consequences of their bullying or hazing actions and the effects it has both physically and mentally on the victims. There are many different ways to victimize someone in this manner whether it’s bullying, hazing or cyber-bullying. These actions happen in every school across the country and light needs to be shed on it. Bullying can come in many different ways whether it’s physical or verbal, while cyber-bullying happens online. These actions are very dangerous and lead many victims to commit obscene crimes and even suicide.
Audience
The target audience is children and young adults from middle school through college.
Demographics: Our focus is an age group between 13 and 23, of students enrolled in school. The type of education or school does not matter; this topic focuses on the irresponsibility that comes along with bullying.
Psychographics: This age group does not respond well to lectures or statistics. We will need to use real-life examples and portray situations that this group can relate to in order to create an impactful point.
Objective
The objective is to be informational along with attempting to scare the audience away from bullying. We want to bother our audience with sad and true stories. We want the audience to want to cry and feel guilty and through this should come the motivation to not only stop themselves from bullying, but others as well.
Strategy
We want to show how useless bullying is for children while trying to have them experience the anguish the victims go through. We want to show a detailed decline in the victims overall personality and well-being. We want the audience to feel the victim’s pain and know what those people are going through.
The Content
Larger males and females for all age groups will be bullying the smaller kids. There will be true stories mixed with an interpretation of what happened. Seeing these events unfold will give the audience a shock that it really does happen.
The Medium
The message is visual. This idea can be used as a TV commercial or as presentations in schools. This wouldn’t work well with just audio because the impact is not there.
Creative Concept:
The audience would be hit with the question “Can you take a life?” This statement will be brought up with many images of kids who have been bullied and a video of some bullying practices. After some tragic stories about victims who committed suicide because of being bullied the audience will be asked again “can you take a life?”
