Gym Teacher: Patrick O'Reilly
45 years old.Brown hair, Brown Eyes, bushy mustache. Born and raised in suburban Boston. Parents were middle class, dad was a police officer and mom was a school teacher at Russell. He is a big Boston Red Sox and Boston Bruins fan. Has two older brothers and a younger sister. They all live in Boston. Both of Pat's brothers are gym teachers at other local schools and there is a friendly rivalry between sports programs and the three brothers. He went to public high school at Charleston North and played varsity baseball there. He went to college at BCC, Boston Community College, then went to graduate school at Syracuse. When he was 26, his mom landed him a gym teaching job at Russell which he still has today. He is married to Cindy Kenner, they met in high school. He has two children, John John age 14, and Brian age 10. He was a pothead as a teenager, but has slowed down since getting older. He still smokes here and there. Character shaped around "Coach Hines" from MadTV. A little crazy, but in a funny/good way. He is friendly and outgoing. He has been working at Russell for 20 years. Students seem to like him, although there have been some students in the past which have had feuds with him. In 2000, a student stated a fire in the gym locker room as a way to get revenge on Pat because he failed him in gym class for never showing up. Pat tackled the boy to the floor before he was able to get away. The fire caused damage to the locker room, but was put out before it destroyed it. Pat decided to take him to court for arson. The kid ended up going to jail for 1 year, but the student body was pissed because the kid was the star quarterback for the football team. The faculty saw Pat as a hero, but the students hated him for the next 4 years. When pat was asked why he pressed legal charges against a teenager, he said "This is my house son, no one messes with my house." This became a trademark saying for him, and he now keeps a giant poster board of the quote over the locker room entrance with a giant round cutout of his head next to it. Growing up Pat was a good kid, although he hungout with the wrong crew in high school and often had run in's with the local police. He likes to bring up the crazy stuff he and his friends did back in the day. He often goes off on rants that have nothing to do with the conversation hes currently having. He has bipolar tendencies while conducting his gym class. He will be screaming his head off insulting a student then the next minute be complimenting someone else. Pat always receives calls at work from his wife Cindy and they always argue about daily life things going on. When Carl is hired, he befriends him and becomes very annoying. He likes to play jokes on the faculty and students. He drives an old Toyota Corolla that backfires every time he puts it in park.

Donald Oliver
Donald was born in Boston on February 12, 1948, to a decorated WWII vet and a WWII nurse. He had wanted to be a teacher since he first stepped in a classroom even though he hated every teacher he ever had. Donald had no time for stupid people and their questions but was sure he'd make a great teacher. However, heavy pressure from his parents to join the military put that dream on hold. After 21 years of constant badgering, Donald was drafted in the 1969 Vietnam War draft. He enjoyed becoming a cook in the military because he wanted nothing to do with every other part of it. Most of the men loved his cooking, and the ones who didn't went hungry. He was discharged at 23 after tearing the ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow while cleaning a pasta bowl.
When he returned home, Donald took the first job he could at a local bank to make money until he could begin his teaching career. Time went by and Donald saw no end in sight to his dead end job. He felt trapped until he met a woman and they were married almost immediately. He eventually accepted his career situation but the thought of being in the front of the classroom ignoring idiotic statements made by his students never left his mind. Donald felt his stomach drop after hearing his wife Mary Ann say her friend had offered him a teaching job at a nearby high school.
Donald finally had something to smile about besides his new wife. He soon found out teaching was everything he thought it would be. The one thing he would change about the school was the staff. Donald would clear everyone out and start all over if he could, as the other employees' incompetence quickly began to wear on him. Year after year, Donald proudly displayed what the perfect Russell Academy teacher should be like. He received many awards for his excellence and has never fallen short of perfect when it comes to being a Russell educator.
Donald had once again become the chef of the house as he was tired of being served microwaved salmon by a confused Mary Ann. Back at school, Donald is always critiquing the young staff that doesn't want anything to do with him anyway.

Character name:
Bud
Bud is an interesting man coming from a Harvard degree,
becoming a lawyer and having a bright future. Bud was also into blackjack
throughout college and it became his second job. He would go to school during
the week and casinos on the weekend. It became a problem and he started losing
a lot of money and one day he got desperate and tried counting cards. That
ended badly for him because he ended up getting the crap kicked out of him and
thrown in jail. He was in county jail for 2 years. After that he became a
custodian at Russell Academy back in Boston where he was born. He came from a
wealthy family; he is an only child that has no more contact with his parents.
Parents think he’s a loser now that he is a custodian. He is always smug no
matter what time of the day it is but when Carl became an employee they became
good friends. Bud knew he had a bright future in head of him to but also ended
up at Russell Academy. He basically becomes Carl’s mentor/good friend. Carl
will come to him for advice or they will just talk about the good looking
teachers. Bud also looks like a mess, long curly hair, and dirty custodial jacket.
All of the other teachers don’t give Bud the time of day because of the way he
looks and his occupation when in reality he can run that entire school. Bud
helps Carl a lot because Carl is the only one to give him the time of day and
also knows what he is going through.
Character Background: Cynthia Rivers
Cynthia Rivers was born on May 5th, 1987 at Cidars-Sinai
Medical Center in Los Angeles, California. As the daughter of Thomas and Mary
Rivers, the wealthy owners of the Rivers Resort, Cynthia was given everything
she wanted. Cynthia went to Brentwood Private School with her older sister,
Jane, but the constant comparison between the two caused Cynthia to seek out a
career different from the business plan her sister had chosen.
After
graduating from high school, Cynthia took a year off, which angered her
parents. During this year Cynthia became a socialite, but unlike her fellow
heiresses, Cynthia was able to avoid the tabloids and drama. Realizing how good
she was at avoiding drama and turning a bad situation into a good one, Cynthia
decided to go into public relations. She excelled in all her classes at the
University of Southern California and proved that she had what it takes to be
in public relations when she was caught having sex in public and turned it into
an artistic protest.
Cynthia had
everything figured out and made sure to let people know that she was more than
just a pretty face. But she had one problem – Cynthia was prone to fall in love
too quickly. A romantic at heart, Cynthia believed that every man she was with,
was her true love and would do anything for that man. This caused her much
heartbreak. Cynthia believed that after graduating from USC her boyfriend would
propose, instead he broke up with her, leading her to take a PR job in Boston.
While at an event in Boston, Cynthia met Carl, who had a promising career in
basketball. She immediately fell for his charm and decided she would be his PR
manager, eventually having an intimate relationship with him. When Carl’s
career took a hit, she found herself unable to do anything to help him.
Believing that Carl was her true love she dropped all her clients and spent all
her time trying to help Carl.
Cynthia was fired for dropping all
her clients and concentrating all her time on someone who did not need PR. Her
parents, after finding out she was fired stopped providing economic assistance,
in an attempt to teach her a lesson. As a big F-U to her parents, Cynthia took
a job at Hooters where she knows her parents hate because that’s where her
father was beaten up by her mother’s jealous old boyfriend. But working at
Hooters proved beneficial because it enabled her to be available for Carl
whenever he called her out on a “date.”

Wendy Sullivan
Wendy Sullivan
Wendy Sullivan was born April 10,
1989 on Long Island, New York. She was born at Winthrop Hospital in a small
town, Mineola. Wendy was born into one of the most loving and “picture perfect”
families. Her mother, Denise, was a stay at home mom and her dad did very well
for himself as a lawyer. Wendy was the oldest of three. Her twin brother, Alex,
and sister, Eileen were four years younger. The Sullivan’s lived on the island
until Wendy was about 12 when her dad, Michael, moved them to Massachusetts.
Wendy was shy and timid and trying
to fit in at a new school was difficult for her. Her head was always in a book
and she kept to herself. She was your average teenage girl going through her
“awkward” stage when she moved. Her family decided to send her to John Jay
Middle School. Glasses took over a majority of her face and covered her
beautiful light eyes. Her beautiful smile was filled with metal. Wendy was
extremely mature for her age and wore preppy, conservative clothes. While her
classmates were in jean shorts from Limited Two and trying to look just like
the Spice Girls, Wendy was in a tan skirt and button down sweater from Ralph
Lauren. She didn’t make friends with
many, except for Patricia who became her best friend and they did everything
together, including going to the same prep school- Russel Prep.
Her “picture perfect” family fell
apart when her mom caught her dad having an affair with one of his clients who
he was representing in a divorce case. After that, Wendy had a hard time ever
trusting boys or believing much of what they said.
Throughout high school, Wendy remained
focused on her grades and getting into a good college. She really wanted to
become a teacher. She graduated with high honors and attended Boston
University.
In college is where Wendy truly
found herself and others began to see and recognize her. She was naturally
beautiful; her light eyes, perfect complexion, beautiful hair and expensive
smile had boys in college chasing her. Even though she wasn’t used to this
attention at all, she didn’t want anything to do with it.
After graduating college, she went to grad school at Boston College where she got her masters. The next step in her life was going back to her prep school where she began teaching. She got a small apartment in town
with Patricia who is still her best friend and is also teaching with her. And that's where she stands today - Ms. Wendy Sullivan, Russel Prep School's English teacher.

Character Profile: Nick McAree
Character Sketch: Nick McAree
Nick
is captain of his high school basketball team.
If this wasn’t enough to give him a chip on his shoulder, than coming
from a wealthy family and living in the snootiest part of town for the past 17
years of his life definitely has. He’s a
senior who already has a lock on the Homecoming King title and while he flirts
with any girl who has a smile, he has yet to hold down a steady
relationship—what’s the point of committing when you’re as good looking as he
is? He has one younger brother who
excels academically, making his parents favor him over Nick, causing him to act
out and be obnoxious in order to gain attention; although, he isn’t aware he’s
doing that, he just thinks it’s cool to be cocky. He has always had things handed to him
throughout his life which is why he joined basketball—because it is a challenge
for him. Being the pretty boy doesn’t
always equate to being the athletic type, and while he was initially put on the
team to become a “more well-rounded person” to apply for ivy league colleges he
has no desire to attend, he became enthralled with the sport. Though, he doesn’t like to admit it, not even
to himself, because that would show that he actually cares about things. The role he plays in the sitcom is that of Alpha
male, reigning over the school like it is his kingdom and giving teachers a
hard time, causing him to be a source of comic relief, as well as conflict. He is shallow on the outside which masks the
depth of his personality that he is struggling to identify. While he may act jolly and carefree, Nick
doesn’t know what he’s doing with his life and has no direction which scares
him, motivating him to be the cocky boy everyone hates to love.

Height: 5 Feet, 7 Inches
Weight: 165 Pounds
Hair: Brown
Eyes: Brown

Charles
William Preston was born on June 6th, 1990 at Boston Regional Medical Center
to parents (and history teachers) William and Melinda Preston. A gifted child, Charles spent most of
his youth reading and watching educational programming.
However, one day something incredible happened.
In an effort to not fail out of middle school gym class, he forced himself to master a sport. Basketball was the choice he made after much hesitation and analysis. He studied vigorously, learning the rules, the teams, everything. He even took it a step further, learning the angles and gravitational constants for different shots. Just as he began to fall in love with the sport, his parents told him there was absolutely no future for him in it and how they were dissapointed that he didn't want to be a teacher, like them. From that point on, to not disappoint his parents, he gave up on it entirely. Charles forged notes to his gym teacher and focused on becoming as smart as he thought his parents were.
As he got older, many of his classmates mocked him for his affinity for sweater vests, his love for history, and his monumental temper tantrums when called “Chuck”. When high school came around, Charles was already spending his lunches with his teachers, helping them grade papers and offering teaching tips. He skipped his first school dance to attend a chess tournament where he took first and second place, due to a formality. Now that he is a teacher’s aide, he can’t help but hate the fact that Carl has no motivation (or teaching skills) and that basketball is such a huge part of his teaching style.
